SAN PEDRO & LO PAGAN:
Another place well worth a visit is San Pedro, just down the coast towards LA MANGA, only 15-20 minutes away, There you will see flamingos on the salt lakes, and with it's nature reserve and marina is a good place to visit for a peaceful break. Carry on a little further towards the Mar Manor and you will find Lo Pagan, this area traditionally known for its therapeutic mud baths it is very popular with the spanish and other european visiters alike. Use of the mud is recomended for many skin complaints and was used centuries ago by injured soldiers to heal there wounds, it is situated in the salt lakes La Puntica. Lo Pagan also has a very pretty beach resort.
LA MANGA:
La Manga del Mar Menor (The Sleeve of the Minor Sea) is a resort town in Murcia, Spain. The La Manga Strip is a strip of land 21 km long and 300 metres wide (average). La Manga means 'sleeve' and it is a strip of land which separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor (Small Sea). It also has many hotels, shops, bars, clubs and restaurants. One of the most popular areas with young adults is the Zoco area. La Manga has more than 40 km of Blue Flag beaches which attract a lot of water sports enthusiasts. La Manga is only a 50-60 mins drive away, and of course with it's equally world class golf course is a must for anyone not just golfers.
CABO ROIG:
Put together, Cabo Roig and Aguamarina make up the famous "strip" of countless bars and restaurants that line the coastal road south of Torrevieja. Dotted with small shops and a couple of supermarkets, "The Strip" has all amenities at hand. Added to this, there are the beaches of Cabo Roig and Campoamor and a Marina. Again the golf courses are just a 10 minute drive and Torrevieja just a 15 minute drive.
PUNTA PRIMA:
Punta Prima is a charming section of the coast which stretches from about 2 miles South of Torrevieja starting at the very popular Nautilus Cafe, (ideal for a quiet romantic meal in the evening) down to La Zenia beach. There are several small beaches and coves, the principal being Punta Prima bay. Easy access by car and free parking. Apart from the beaches, Punta Prima is within 10 mins drive of the 'Golden Triangle' of Golf Courses in the area and only about 60 mins from the La Manga complex.There are great coastal walks, either into Torrevieja, stopping at some of the beach front Cafe's and bars or down towards Cabo Roig.
